2 Days in Israel
DO NOT MISS
Jerusalem, Beaches in Tel Aviv
ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrive via Jordan, See Jerusalem, head towards Tel Aviv.
I was traveling in Jerusalem with a Jewish friend. Consequently we weren’t allowed in the Islamic quarters of Jerusalem. I wonder if I had traveled alone, the story would be different. Inside the gate is a maze of cobble stone streets. We made it to the Western Wall where men and women had separate entrances and areas to pray. Women are required to cover their bare shoulders.
Day 2: Visit Tel Aviv Beaches, shop at one of the markets.
The Tel Aviv waterfront is gorgeous, comparable to the best beaches on the Mediterranean Sea.
LODGING
I Couchsurfed in Tel Aviv.
TRANSPORTATION
There are buses from the border that will take you to Jerusalem and drop you off at the Damascus Gate. It was 53 shekels (including 1 piece of luggage) at the time of this post
FOOD
The best falafels in the middle east! Have a local point you in the right direction.
TRAVELING WITH LESS TIME…
Don’t.
TRAVELING WITH MORE TIME…
- Spend more time in Jerusalem
- Take a swim in the Dead Sea
- Venture out to Nazareth, place of Jesus’s Birth
Note: I spent a quick 2 days in Israel on the way home from Jordan. The dreaded border crossing from Jordan to Israel wasn’t as bad as I was prepared for. The detail of the crossing is posted here.
